    Common iPhone Issues

There are a few common iPhone issues that can be easily fixed. One issue is that the iPhone may not be charging properly. This can be caused by a number of things, including a bad charging port or a problem with the iPhone’s battery.

Another common issue is that the iPhone may not be able to connect to a wireless network. This can be caused by a number of things, including a bad antenna or a problem with the iPhone’s software.

Why is My iPhone Displaying “cannot verify server identity” Error.

The “cannot verify server identity” error occurs when the iPhone’s strict verification of mail server certificates detects a fake certificate. This error is common when using the Mail app in iOS devices and can be caused by a number of factors.

One possible cause is that the mail server’s certificate has been revoked by the issuing authority. Another possibility is that the certificate has been tampered with or is expired. In some cases, the problem may be with the iPhone itself and not the mail server.

To fix this error, you may need to take a few steps depending on what’s causing it. If the problem is with the mail server, you may need to contact your ISP or email provider for help. If the problem is with the iPhone, you may need to update your iOS software.

If the date and time are incorrect on an iPhone, it can cause problems with apps and services that use time-sensitive information. To troubleshoot this, first check to see if the date and time are set to automatic. If they are not, then set them to automatic and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then try manually setting the date and time to see if that helps.

    Troubleshooting Solutions

Quit and restart the Mail app

The Mail app is one of the most commonly used apps on an iPhone or iPad. And when there are problems with it, it can be frustrating for users. One such problem is when an in-app error occurs. This could be something like a message not sending or being unable to view an email.

These errors can often be rectified by quitting and restarting the Mail app. However, if the problem continues after restarting, then there may be a more serious issue that needs to be addressed.

The first solution is to Quit and restart the Mail app. This will clear any cached data that may be causing the problem.

If that doesn’t work, you can try disabling then re-enabling the iCloud account in the Mail app. To do this, open the Settings app and tap on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”. Scroll down and tap on “iCloud” and then toggle the switch off and back on.

If you’re using an earlier iPhone with a physical Home button, quitting background apps is done by following these steps:

    1. Go to the Home screen to get started.
    2. Then swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then pause slightly in the middle.
    3. Swipe right or left to find Messages app.
    4. Then swipe up on the Messages app card/preview to close it

If you’re using an iPhone 8 or later models, this is how to close out background apps:

    1. Double-press the Home button to view your most recently used apps.
    2. Then navigate through app previews by swiping left or right.
    3. And to close the app, swipe up on it’s preview.

Once you finish clearing all background apps, try to relaunch the Mail app and see if the error is still showing. If the error persists, move on to our next solution.

    Do a Soft Reset/Reboot

Restarting or resetting the device may resolve the issue if the error is caused by minor system glitches. There are different ways to soft reset an iPhone. One way is to simultaneously press and hold the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. Another way is to go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Content and Settings.

If you’re using an iPhone X, XS, XS Max, or XR, follow these steps to soft reset:

    1. Press and hold the Side button and Volume buttons until the Power off slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to power off your iPhone completely.
    3. Then after 30 seconds, press the Side button again to turn your iPhone back on.

If you’re using an iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or earlier versions, performing a soft reset or restart is done this way:

    1. Press and hold the Top or Side button until the Power off slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to power off the phone completely.
    3. After about 30 seconds, press and hold the Top or Side button again to turn the phone back on.

Try these steps first if you’re having trouble connecting to your email server. It’s important to note that these steps won’t affect any saved information on the phone’s internal memory – so creating a backup isn’t necessary. After trying this, check and see if the error still pops up.

    Email Account Removal

If you are experiencing issues with the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad, there is a good chance that removing and adding your email account back will fix the problem. To do this, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then tap on your email account.

Next, tap on Delete Account. Finally, add the account back in by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account and selecting your email provider.

    Step by step

    1. Tap Settings from the Home screen.
    2. Tap Accounts & Passwords.
    3. Navigate to the Accounts section.
    4. Then tap to select the email account that you want to delete.
    5. Tap the Delete Account button at the bottom part of the screen.
    6. Then tap Delete from My iPhone to confirm that you want to delete the email account. The selected email will then be removed.
    7. After deleting the email account, go back to Settings-> Accounts & Passwords menu.
    8. Then tap the option to Add Account.
    9. Select your email service provider.
    10. Enter all the required information.

To fix the issue, you need to delete the email account and add it again. After adding the account, make sure to select the option to verify the server identity. If you’ve set up multiple email accounts on your iPhone, then you should remove and recreate them too.

If you’re still experiencing the error “cannot verify server identity” keep testing further with our other solutions.

    Updating iOS and Carrier Settings

iOS bugs can occasionally cause the “cannot verify server identity” error. Updates usually embed fix patches to address existing device issues that are attributed to system bugs. In some cases, updating your device may be the key to rectifying this error.

Updating iOS wirelessly is simple and convenient as long as your iPhone has no problem with the Internet connection. Make sure your device has enough storage space and battery life to complete the process. To update iOS wirelessly:

    1. Connect your iPhone to a power source and make sure it has a stable Internet connection.

    2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.

    3. Tap Download and Install. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel.

    4. To install the update, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just connect your device to power before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.

    5. If asked, enter your passcode.

    6. Tap Agree to the Terms and Conditions.

    7. Tap Agree again to confirm.

    8. If you see an error or need more space when updating wirelessly, you may be forced to back up files to external memory, so you can free up memory space to proper install the updated IOS software.

Once your IOS update is successful, reboot your device to apply the recent changes.

    Reconfigure/Reset Network Settings

When you clear your network settings on your iPhone, you are essentially resetting all the device’s networking components. This can be helpful if you are experiencing connectivity issues or have recently changed your network configuration.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to clear your network settings. This will reset all your network settings back to their defaults, including your Wi-Fi passwords.

When your phone reboots after a reset, you’ll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network to use online services. To do this, open the Settings app and tap on the Wi-Fi option. Then, find your network in the list of available networks and enter the password if prompted. Once your device is connected, you can open the Mail app and check if the error is gone.

    Factory Reset

iPhone factory reset is a process that restores an iPhone to its original factory settings. This process erases all data on the iPhone, including photos, music, contacts, and apps. It is often used when an iPhone is no longer working properly or when someone wants to sell their iPhone.

This will erase everything from your device including fatal system errors that might have caused conflicts to your email server settings and triggered the “cannot verify server identity” error message.

The “cannot verify server identity” error is usually caused by a conflict between the email server settings on your device and the actual server settings. This can be due to a number of factors, including incorrect or outdated settings on your device or changes made to the server settings by the email service provider.

Performing a factory reset on your device will erase all of your data and settings, including any conflicting email server settings that might be causing the “cannot verify server identity” error. This should fix the problem and allow you to reset your email account without issues.

Should you wish to proceed with a factory reset on your iPhone, it is important to first backup all your important data to iCloud or iTunes. This way, if anything goes wrong during the reset process, you can still recover your data.

To factory reset your iPhone through settings, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Settings app and tap on General.

    2. Scroll down and tap on Reset.

    3. Tap on Erase All Content and Settings.

    4. If prompted, enter your passcode.

    5. Tap on Erase iPhone.

    6. Once the reset is complete, your iPhone will restart, and you will be prompted to set up your device as new or restore it from a backup.

After the reset, you will need to set up everything on your device like the way you did when you first purchased your iPhone.

You must enter your Apple ID and password to set up your iPhone as new. Then you can choose which settings to restore from iCloud or iTunes. If you have an iCloud account, your settings and data will be backed up and automatically restored when you sign in.

If you don’t have an iCloud account, you can choose to restore from an iTunes backup file on your computer.

When setting up your email account, be sure to input the correct credentials. Once everything is set up and your device is online, launch the Mail app to see if the error is gone. The most common reason for this error is incorrect or outdated email account settings.

Ensure you have entered the correct information for your email server, username, and password. If you are still having trouble, contact your email provider for assistance.

“cannot verify server identity” Error Still Showing?

If you are still seeing “cannot verify server identity” after following each step mentioned above, it is possible that the problem lies with your email service provider. The email server may be down for maintenance, or there may be some other technical issue.

You can contact your service provider to find out the current status of the email server and ask for help checking and reconfiguring the SMTP settings on your device.

Your last resort should be to contact Apple Support.

Apple Support can help determine whether a problem is with the Apple servers. To do this, they may assess the problem further and ask questions about specific keywords. By doing this, they can better understand the issue and provide more accurate support.
