The new Geek Bar Pulse was first released near the end of 2023, and it has quickly become one of the world’s most talked-about – and copied – disposable vapes.
The Geek Bar Pulse has two new features that have taken the vaping world by storm while also positioning Geek Bar vapes as some of the most unique vaping devices on the planet. The first of those features is a smart display, which makes it easy for you to keep track of the device’s e-liquid supply and battery charge.
The second feature, though, is the one that brought you to this article. It’s the device’s new Pulse Mode. This marks perhaps the first time that a disposable vape has ever had multiple selectable vaping modes. It’s a completely new approach that’s going to be transformative for some people – and in this guide, we’re going to explain how it works.

What Is Pulse Mode, and How Does It Work?
When you examine the bottom of a Geek Bar Pulse, you’ll notice a switch with three positions. The first position – which is labeled “Closed” – turns the device off. One of the less heralded features of the Geek Bar Pulse is that you can actually turn it off, which is a rare feature among disposable vapes and can make auto-firing a thing of the past. The second position activates the devices standard vaping mode, and the third position activates Pulse Mode.
To understand how Pulse Mode works, it’s important to understand the design of the Geek Bar Pulse. Most disposable vapes have just one heating coil to vaporize the e-liquid, but the Geek Bar Pulse has two coils.
The dual-coil design is what makes Pulse Mode work, and it also gives the device another very unusual feature. When you use the standards vaping mode, the Geek Bar Pulse alternates between the two coils automatically on each puff. This divides the load evenly between the two coils and helps to ensure that the flavor quality will remain high to the very end.
When you enable Pulse Mode, that’s when the magic happens. In this mode, the Geek Bar uses both coils simultaneously to deliver double the vapor production with every puff. The increased vapor production means that you’ll enjoy some of the biggest clouds that a disposable vape can produce, but it does come at a cost. Since the Geek Bar Pulse uses twice as much e-liquid in Pulse Mode, it reduces the device’s capacity from 15,000 to 7,500 puffs.
What’s the Point of Pulse Mode?
Although blowing huge clouds across the room is always fun – especially when you’re using a device as small as the Geek Bar Pulse – it’s not the main purpose of Pulse Mode. The real reason why this feature exists is because there are some people who find that the vapor production of a standard disposable vape isn’t quite enough to keep them away from cigarettes. Although those people could always switch to larger vaping devices for a bit of extra vapor, many of those people don’t want to do that because they enjoy the convenience and small size of disposable vapes.
If you fall into that category, you’re going to love Pulse Mode because the extra nicotine that is supplies might be enough to satisfy your higher nicotine requirements and prevent you from needing to buy a larger vaping device.
The Geek Bar Pulse Is Great for Flavor Lovers
Even if you don’t have higher nicotine requirements and are perfectly happy using a single-coil disposable vape, though, you may still appreciate the Geek Bar Pulse because of the clever coil alternation when the device is in the standard vaping mode.
If you’ve been vaping for a while, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the fact that almost every disposable vape on the market today is filled with very sweet e-liquid. Sweet vape juice tastes great, but the sucralose that makes the e-liquid taste so good also leaves residue on the device’s coil. The residue eventually thickens and causes the coil to produce a burnt flavor.
With the lower-capacity disposable vapes that most people used a couple of years ago, sucralose residue was never a concern because the devices ran out of e-liquid before the residue could become thick enough to cause a real problem. With modern vapes now delivering more than 10,000 puffs, though, there’s a good chance that you often begin to notice a burnt flavor before your devices are completely out of e-liquid.
Since the Geek Bar Pulse alternates between the two coils when it’s in the standard vaping mode, it effectively cuts the rate of residue formation in half. With this feature, you may find that you can actually use all of the e-liquid in the device before it begins to taste burnt.
Even if you don’t care about the dual-coil design, though, it’s still worthwhile to try the Geek Bar Pulse because the smart display is really a revolutionary feature. Running out of e-liquid unexpectedly is no fun – especially if you’re out of the house and don’t have access to another device. With the Geek Bar Pulse, running out of e-liquid is never a surprise because the screen tells you when your supply is low.
An Effective Strategy for Using Pulse Mode
Since the Geek Bar Pulse has two different vaping modes, it’s worthwhile to consider what the most effective strategy is for using the device. As we discussed earlier in the article, you might put the device into Pulse Mode right away and leave it there to ensure that you’ll always get the maximum amount of nicotine per puff.
If your nicotine requirements aren’t so high, though, you might want to consider using the Geek Bar Pulse in a different way. For example, you might consider putting the device into Pulse Mode temporarily if you haven’t vaped in a few hours and want to normalize your nicotine levels as quickly as possible. After a few puffs, you can put the device back into the normal vaping mode to conserve your e-liquid supply. With this strategy, you can get a little extra nicotine when you really need it without significantly reducing the total number of puffs that you get out of the device.
